A case around 34–39mm is a useful starting range, but lug-to-lug and case shape can change the fit materially. Use the calculator with the exact watch dimensions.
Should watch lugs stay inside the wrist?+
As a practical starting rule, the lug span should sit inside the flat top of the wrist. Curved lugs, bracelet articulation and wrist shape still affect the real fit.
Is watch diameter enough to judge fit?+
No. Diameter describes case width, while lug-to-lug estimates the actual footprint. Thickness, dial opening, bezel width and strap shape also influence presence.
Is this a replacement for trying on a watch?+
No. The result is directional geometry, not a guarantee. A physical try-on or clear wrist photo remains the best final fit check.
